Hi I'm so new to this it's scary and exciting at the sametime. Anyway I know I'll screw up somewhere but I'm trying that's all that matters. There is a big protest taking place in NYC on 5/25 I would love to see our Military out their also in the thousands. The goal is to lash back at the Media for their treatment of teaparty goers. You can get info on meetup.com/mainstream-media-protest-group/. Just doing my part and God help us. As long as we stay in line to the constitution nothing should scare us, the ones that should be scared are the ones who think they can march in on our parade.

Do we really want to get back at them or do we want to prove them wrong? I personally feel as though the meeting is a good idea but it would be much better if you simply have a quiet well informed tea party with a written hand out on the purpose of the protest and obey the laws so that none of their lies can touch our movement. Evereyone should be well aware of what the protest is about and prepared to answer why they are there.

We just want to prove them wrong. I'm not organizing it but I'm sure all your questions can be answered on the site. And I do believe no matter what we do will be proved to be wrong, that's why our voices have been silent for so long. I believe they the Media have wakened up a sleeping gient and were it goes no one knows, we can only do our part by partisapating and following our beliefs to the letter.

We will prove the media wrong just by continuing the Tea Party protest, no matter what the venue or the time/date. The fact that thousands of Americans stand up to be counted (abet by far more numbers than the media will ever report) will send a message to Washington and our local districts that people will not tolerate this BS anymore. As the numbers increase or become more noticeable to the politicians over a sustained amount of time, they will become a bit more concerned. When we vote the bums out next year, they really will notice. Folks, the only way to change Washington is to put people who don't believe what we do out on the steps and bring in those who do.
Our goal should be to educate as many people as possible between now and the 2010 elections by whatever means are possible. Tea Parties are just part of a multistage plan.

teapartywomen,

First, welcome. We are glad to have you here. Each and every voice counts and as more are added the voice becomes stronger.

What you and yours are planning is great, and we wish you the best, even if all of us cant be there we will be there in spirit. I will make a point to visit your suggested site and possibly make some suggestions.

I will also make them here so you can take them back to your meetings with you.

First: Make sure everyone is aware of your message. If your protest is about the media coverage, or lack thereof, make sure that your signs, hand outs, chants and anything else you do state that purpose alone. Dont muddy the water with numerous messages saying different things.

Second: Make sure everyone knows that the protest is peaceful. Any inkling of violence will be grabbed upon by the media and will become a blanket statement for all protests from then on.

Third: Assign people to be on the look out for opposition members that will try to create a disturbance. If you can get off duty or under cover police help with this that is a plus. If someone tries to create a disturbance, quietly surround them and lead them away from your protest.

Fourth: Make sure everyone knows what the protest is about and is prepared to answer questions. Hand out talking points that have examples of what has been said or done to illustrate your point of protest. In other words.. research, research and research again. The people the media will look for in your protest group will be the ones who are uninformed or are putting out a different message then the main group.

Fifth: set a beginning time and an ENDING time for your protest and stick to it. That way if someone is hanging out after ending time and they get air time, you have the ability to say they were not part of your protest if they say something counter to your message or something that leans toward violence or threats.

sixth: make sure someone or a group of people have both still and video cameras and are rolling throughout. Youtube is a powerful media and you can put your video up on their site for free. It will also give you video and still proof should there be any questions of actions that took place at your protest.

Seventh: have someone rather quickly put out an official "press release" prior to your protest. A statement inviting participation stating time, place, purpose, and all the particulars to be posted on places like here, resistnet, 912project.us, Heirs of Liberty Press, and any other places. This can also be placed in the announcement section of your local newspaper.

Eighth: Assign some people for clean up. Be sure to leave the site as you found it. Again the condition of the protest site once the protest is over will not only reflect on your group but on all the organizations.

There are quite a few tea Party organizers on this forum and I am sure they would be more then willing to share their advice and experiences with you and your group.
