There is an email circulating that this speech is part of. While the email states that it was made last Thursday, the truth of the matter is, it was made on Thursday, May 27, 1999. At the time, it was received no differently then the rest of the speakers who made speeches that day.

However, the speech itself is as powerful today, as it was the day it was given. Here is part of the transcript of that day:

'Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers.

'The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart.

'In the days that followed the! Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA.. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent.

I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy -- it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best.



Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
Your words are empty air..
You've stripped away our heritage,
You've outlawed simple prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere,
And ask the question 'Why?'
You regulate restrictive laws,
Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,
That God is what we need!



' Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our 20 major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs -- politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws. Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts.

'As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA -- I give to you a sincere challenge. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone!

My daughter's death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!'

No one here has said it was any better under Bush. We do say that Bush didnt try to sell us out to foreign entities. None of us support one party over another, Im not sure where you got that impression. What we support and defend is the Constitution. At this point, having read 2 of your posts, Im not sure what you support, but you are beginning to sound like you defend the actions of Obama and the congress.

We are well aware that "he" has been in office for 3 months, 3 months too long in most of our opinions. All of this has nothing to do with whether I lost, you lost, he lost or she lost... the fact of the matter is we ALL lost, and were destined to loose as there was no other choice... there was no WIN.

Now having said all that, we will not sensor your posts. We will not delete them. We reserve the right to ignore you if you become disruptive however. Many of the people here have served their country so that you and I could continue to have the right to freely express ourselves, including those people with differing opinions then our own. That is what freedom is all about, and what we are fighting for. To sensor those who disagree with the majority of us here would be hypocritical to everything we stand for. Feel free to continue posting your opinions, but also realize that you may be ignored, you may be challenged, you may even be ridiculed should you continue to post against the majority of this board.

Poor, poor S O L, this may be the root of your problem. We here do not hate - neither folks like you nor unlike you. What we hate is the FACT that there are people who are so ignorant (Read: uneducated) that THEY are the haters, both of country and constitution.

Richard, The last line of your post breaks my heart. The "Thou shalt not kill" in the 10 Commandments should have been translated "Thou shalt not MURDER". How many times in the Bible did God himself order a town/person to be destroyed? God gave the power to government to make decisions regarding war and if military personnel are sent to war by their government the blood of those killed is on the shoulders of the government. If you weren't bothered by what happened, I'd wonder about what kind of person you are but from your posts I can tell what kind of person you are. You have nothing to fear from God or man for what happened during your time at war. God bless you and others like you for what you have done to protect this country, even those jerks who think less of you for it. All of you carry pain in your hearts because of what you've been through, your pastor was right. God has forgiven you and you have no need to forgive yourself. Semper Fi, Thorgo, and thank you for your service. I was Army but Marines are okay, too. Then, I spent 25 years as a police officer before retiring in 1993. I felt that was enough service to country, until the last few years when I realized the nation I'd been protecting was slipping away.

They fear the fact that we aren't Republicans; we aren't Democrats; we aren't liberals and we aren't conservatives. We're the People and there are millions of us, all speaking with one voice. So, they're trying to label us.

They try to denigrate a person or group, or any cause they disagree with or don't understand. Rather than discuss it, try to learn about it, they only understand attacking it and those involved in it. What they can't comprehend is, all they're doing is showing their ignorance.

As this movement grows in strength, and I think it will, expect more and worse. They and the media will be at full howl.
