I am an Electrician, and I consider myself to be a pretty good one. The Military has all sorts of kooky energy savings initiatives. I though this would be a good place to discuss them, as well as whether or not they are useful

1. Compact Fluorescent Lights: Great idea, saves energy, lasts longer, reduces waste. Only problem these lamps just like all Fluorescent lamps have mercury gas in them. If you use these they can't just be thrown in the trash, they have to be turned in as hazardous material, just like unused paint! One company makes "green" CFL's but they are expensive.

Philips will be introducing LED light bulbs this summer, they cost around $50, but if you use them for 5 hours a day, 365 days a year, they will last for 24 years. They contain no lead and are completely eco friendly, they also save even more energy over CFL's.

Oh no....I've been throwing away my used Fluorescent Light bulbs in the trash. Please don't report me to the EPA. I think I switched to them about 2 years ago when the price started coming down and I have one on over my sink 24 hours a day. I live in the sticks with no outside light, besides the moon and have to have some light on or I'll trip over a dog. I think I've thrown 1 or maybe 2 away in 2 years.
I have attempted to make my home as energy efficient as possible and attempt to follow all the government's recommendations. Here is their site if you want to see how you are doing on home energy efficiency:

I just think it's kind of crazy for a government to outlaw a type of light bulb, everybody knows that starting in 2010 regular incandescent light bulbs are illegal right?

I looked agenda 21 up and was dumbfounded. It is a full manuscript on how the government plans to control our lives. I was only able to read about children and women before it made me sick. I felt like I was watching a bad movie about the govt taking over the world. I bet dollars to donuts most people aren't aware of it. It made me so sick I wasn't able to figure out if it was something already implemented, being implemented over time, or about to implement. Maybe you could help me out with that.

This is the first I've heard or read about this nonsense. I did hear something about some kind of, I think it's called 'Carbon tax' that would add a small fortune to already ridiculously high electricity, heating oil, probably gasoline, etc.

People in some areas of this country can't pay their heating bill now. What happens if it jumps (what I read) another $50 a month or more?

Those People on Capitol Hill and in the Oval Office must be stopped. They must be made aware that they are only SERVANTS of We the People, not our rulers. Right now, they act like we are supposed to do for them. It's time they be reminded that they are there to do for us.

In point of fact, the Federal Govt. is very limited in what it can do. This, of course, assumes that the various States will ever stand up and assert their rights. They, as well as the people, have allowed the Fed Govt to entangle itself into every facet of our lives. I'm waiting for the Federal Law that requires all of us to meet in a parking lot and engage in a half hour of exercise each day, and be required to eat only Govt approved meals.

If you don't like the cap and trade, just wait until our fascist govt votes to adopt LOST, Law of the Sea Treaty. This ripoff of American sovereignty over our oceans will basically be the death knell to any freedom we have left (after economic collapse). The UN will be in control of our navy, fishing and water resources. Kinda makes me mad. How about you?

They'll just keep giving us away a bit at a time until there is nothing left.

Obama has got to be stopped. But look at the damage he will have done in 4 years. Irreversible damage. He by nominating Cho to the top lawyer at the State Dept.is going to destroy the constitution. Read soom of the stuff this clown believes. That international law trumps our laws and Sharia law should be enforced. GOD HELP US AND THE PEOPLE IN CONGRESS TOO STUPID TO HELP THEMSELF.
