Thousands to Protest Eco-Tyranny, Government Over-Regulation and High Taxes

Sacramento --- In response to crippling government over-regulation and oppressive taxes, the Tea Party Patriots have announced that citizen patriots from across the state are set for a major protest on the steps of the California State Capitol, two weeks from today, on August 28, from noon to 5 p.m.

Describing the coming crowds as "the productive people of California," the Patriots are expecting thousands of California taxpayers and business owners from around the state. Farmers, truck drivers, contractors, manufacturers, ranchers, loggers, and thousands of other taxpayers are expected to converge on the steps of the Capitol to protest oppressive government regulation, over-taxation and the Eco-Tyranny foisted upon the public by their government.

Hot topics will include:
A federal government shutdown of irrigation pumps in Central California which has turned vast swaths of once-fertile farmland into a man-made dustbowl. The shutdown has led to 40% unemployment in rural farming towns and thousands of citizens lining up for public assistance. The water shut-off has been pursued by environmentalists to protect the "endangered" 2-inch "delta smelt." In effect, government action has turned California's Central Valley farmers into an endangered species, by removing fertile farmland from cultivation and leaving farmers unable to pay their bills.
The far-reaching California "Global Warming Solutions Act" known as AB 32, which leading scientists say will do nothing to stop global warming but instead costs $4,000 per California family, $50,000 per small business, and a total loss of business at $180 Billion. This is a precursor of things to come across the nation with Cap & Trade.
High, oppressive taxes imposed by both the state and federal government. The Tea Party said it on April 15th, they said it on May 19th, and they'll say it again: it's time to lower taxes.

"Californians are in no mood for increasing government regulation and taxation. It's time to lift the burdens of a bloated and corrupt government from the backs of the productive citizens of this state" said Mark Meckler, California Tea Party Patriots Co-Coordinator and one of the four National Coordinators for the Tea Party Patriots. "Sacramento is about to hear from the folks they've been keeping under their thumbs, on issues ranging from water to jobs to taxes to environmental over-regulation. The voice of the people will be heard loud and clear on 8/28."

Busses have been charted by groups of Tea Party Patriots from every corner of the state, many business and community associations are signing on in support, and organizers believe turnout will likely exceed that of the massive April 15th Tax Day Tea Party rally.

"Taxpayers are fed up with near-criminal fiscal mismanagement of our state," said Jon Coupal, President of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, a major backer of the Tea Party event. "We are in the midst of a Tax Revolt we haven't seen since Prop. 13 Politicians would be wise to take note that Taxpayer demand real solutions to our problems instead of the tired old policies of higher taxes and more regulation, things which have gotten into this mess."

Special guests will include Congressman Tom McClintock, Tea Party Patriots National Coordinators, Amy Kremer, Jenny Beth Martin and Mark Meckler (first time ever together in one location), talk radio star Eric Hogue (Capitol Hour, on KTKZ AM), central coast radio talk show host, Andy Caldwell, and many others to be announced. More event details will be announced in the coming days.
